◎ Character's Age: 2 (In "dragon years")
◎ Canon Point: Post Siege of Orgrimmar
◎ Background/History:
**Wrote it out not so much because there's not much on him, but rather there's not much on the celestial trials which give an important window into his personality, which I reference heavily in the personality section. If you would rather a wiki link there is one here and a video of said trials here.**

Wrathion had a very unnatural upbringing, and that means quite a lot given his family. The black dragonflight is a flight overtaken by a deep seeded madness, brought on by an Old God imprisoned deep beneath the earth of Azeroth. You see, the black dragonflight have a deep connection with the earth and all contained within it, and were subsequently charged with shaping the land and safeguarding the treasures within, but this also left them susceptible to the mad whisperings of the Old God. Thus they turned against their fellow dragon kin, and... well, pretty much anything not a black dragon. That isn't to say they were particularly loyal to their own kind, they just kill their own kind without getting some sort of personal gain from it. The most prominent to fall to madness was Neltharion the Earth warder, the leader of the black dragonflight, and blessed with power from the titans to help him with his duties. So dramatic was his change after falling to madness that he renamed himself Deathwing, and earned the title "the destroyer" and "world Breaker" and a number of other impressive and dramatic titles with essentially the same meaning. Deathwing and his flight nearly destroyed all of Azeroth, and were a constant threat wherever they were found.

However the other dragonflights did not wish to entirely exterminate an entire race of dragon, so members of the red dragonflight captured a black dragon, and forced her to lay eggs so that they could experiment on them in order to create uncorrupted black dragons. A harsh course of action, but with the aide of titan technology and a whole lot of magic, they succeeded. However, Deathwing caught wind of the scheme and sought to destroy the new uncorrupted dragon. Rheastrasza, the red dragon in charge of caring for Wrathion's egg, moved from place to place in order to keep the egg safe from the black dragon's hunting it, but eventually Deathwing found her. In a last desperate move, Rheastrasza swapped Wrathion's egg for one of her own, thus when Deathwing killed her and what he believed to be the uncorrupt black dragon egg, it was actually a red dragon egg instead. Wrathion' egg was safely returned to the red dragonflight, but mysteriously disappeared sometime after.

Now, this effects Wrathion more than would be expected because he claims to have been aware of what was going on around him. Thus his first introduction into the world was one of violence, death, desperate measures for a greater good, and the abomination that was his father.

Later, Wrathion's egg is found in Ravenholdt Manor, a secret base for a guild of elite thieves and assassins. Who were no doubt fabulous role models for the unhatched dragon whelp. Rogues starting out the legendary quest are sent there, and see Wrathion finally hatch. Of course after the ordeal that was the first part of his existence, he asks to be left alone. But, he can't have nice things so next thing you know, one of his new rogue pets minions bodyguards discovers a red dragon in disguise. Wrathion decides to let him go, to show that he was not, in fact, his father... but only after they break the red dragon's legs.

Next time you see Wrathion he is surrounded by the corpses of black dragons. Apparently in his spare time he tasked himself with the duty of murdering his entire family, of course he has good reason. They were all mad and corrupt, and he was not, it was either them or him and he chose himself. He had to go about proving he was not his father one way or another, murder just seemed to be the way to go. Oh, well, he didn't murder his entire family, he tasks the player to kill three remaining stragglers, and then his father (after giving the player a set of snazzy new daggers), as he was now on the run from the red dragonflight and thus rather busy.

Wrathion isn't seen again until the next expansion. Now a whopping two years old, Wrathion has charged himself with uniting all of Azeroth. His method of choice? You guessed it: Murder. Only now he has grown wiser with age, and come to the realization of 'why do it yourself, when you can get other people to do it for you!' Thus he mostly spends his time watching and waiting to see how things go. At first he seems to be rooting for the Horde and their short-tempered, brash, and domineering Warchief to obliterate the Alliance, and thus uniting both factions by force. Of course then Horde warchief finds some cool Old God heart and takes a huge powertrip on the Crazy chain, and Wrathion promptly changes his favorite faction to the Alliance. So while the Horde and the alliance do their thing killing eachother, he and his new favorite minion (the player) get to work trying to figure out the mysteries of the newly discovered continent Pandaria.

Sometime while his new BFF minion is out getting ancient artifacts from a bunch of trolls (literally), Anduin, the prince of Stormwind, and thus the son of the leader of the Alliance, Varian, finds his way into the tavern Wrathion has made himself comfortable at. Anduin proves to be Wrathion's foil in almost every way. While they may have similar goals, Wrathion sees power and fear to be the best way to rule, and Anduin believes that understanding and just leadership are the best method. For a time the two wind up being like a little angel and a devil on the shoulders of the player. Of course Wrathion wins because have you SEEN the stats on that cloak?! It's insane! And what good individual wouldn't bend morals for some shiny new stats? Epic loot aside, Wrathion and Anduin wind up being strange friends. Even when the quest for the legendary cloak begins to get a bit... weird. Weirder anyway. In order to gain the knowledge of a powerful tyrant, Lei-shen the Thunder King, Wrathion sends the player to kill him and bring back his heart. Of course as his favorite minion, the player does just that, only to have Wrathion... eat it. Yup, the little brat just horfs down raw monster dog person heart. So while Anduin and no doubt the player are busy reeling in horror and disgust, Wrathion gets a vision from the titans.

Now, the reason that happened, along with what the vision actually meant branch off into an entirely different part of the game lore, that doesn't really relate to Wrathion other than "he knows it!" so if you hate yourself and want to read up on grossly overpowered magic star people you can do so here and here.

Now, back to Wrathion, and his quest for ruining everything for the greater good. With some new fancy titan knowledge, Wrathion provides the player with another upgrade to their cloak, but it's not done yet. Oh no. The next step is to acquire the blessing of the celestials, the beastial demi-gods of Pandaria. Each of the four celestials embrace a particular virtue. Yulon the Jade serpent represents wisdom, Xuen the white tiger represents strength, Niuzao the black ox represent fortitude, and Chi-ji the red crane represents hope. Each celestial questions Wrathion as to how he perceives their respective virtue, and the player must pick one celestial and complete their challenge. Wrathion generally bumbles over his answer to the celestial's inquiries, and it becomes obvious they're not testing him so much as trying to instill a lesson in him. For Yulon, Wrathion answers that wisdom is to do what is right, regardless of cost. Yulon amends his statement to say that true wisdom is knowing what is right, and sometimes doing nothing at all. A nod to the fact of his meddling in the affairs of the Alliance and Horde, hoping one will dominate the other, when in truth it is their rivaling conflict that mas made both sides so strong. Of course that goes right over Wrathion's head, and he just says what he needs to in order to get the blessing. When questioned by Xuen about what true strength is, his immediate answer is the power to crush one's foes. Xuen then points out that he only speaks in terms of enemies, Wrathion back-pedals a bit and claims that is can be beneficial to allies as well. Of course when asked how, Wrathion stalls for a moment before saying "by using it to... crush their enemies!". Xuen attempts to instill upon him that strength spent int he service of others is twice as great as strength spent on an enemy. Again, it goes right on over Wrathion's head. As for the challenge, both Xuen and Yulon's are very similar, given that they are both for damage dealers (though one for ranged while the other for mele). Essentially Wrathion is told he must fight the player, while blindfolded. His reaction to this is that he will simply annihilate the player, and that blindfolding him won't make a difference. He does wind up reluctantly agreeing, apologizing to the player for what was about to happen, then proceeds to grumble about it being ridiculous. Following the challenge, when the player wins he promptly whines that the challenge was "lopsided". Continuing on to Niuzao, the exchange is similar to Xuen's as Wrathion assumes fortitude is the power to withstand any hardship. Niuzao explains he mistakes Strength with Fortitude (big surprise), and that fortitude comes from within. This time the lesson seems to be to Wrathion not to underestimate the individual, and their ability to survive oppression, giving a nod that Wrathion only seems to acknowledge those with brute strength and raw power, rather than those with a strong mind and will. Again this goes over Wrathion's head and his only response is "I knew that."

It is Chi-ji's challenge that poses the most unique exchange, as it is the only one where Wrathion's bravado is shaken. When asked what hope is he responds "A belief in a better tomorrow" but his words are hesitant. Chi-ji takes notice and comments on his uncertainty (but hey, he seemed to get at least one answer right), to which Wrathion seems to ramble a bit about his pent-up fears for the future. Wrathion claims that it is the slimmest sliver of belief that Azeroth with survive the coming devastation (from the alluded army of demons that were planning on invading) is all that sustains him, but he doesn't believe a world divided can survive the invasion. Chi-ji then offers Wrathion his blessing, not because he answered correctly, but because Wrathion seemed to need it more than anyone he had seen before. Like Xuen and Yulon, Niuzao and Chi-ji offer similar challenges, one for healers to heal damage, and one for tanks to absorb damage. However Niuzao's and Chi-ji's challenges are far more emotional than previous ones. Wrathion is made to fight a vision of his father, Deathwing (in humanoid form, not the giant world breaking dragon version). Wrathion initially begs not to have to go through with it, but is told to trust in his allies. Wrathion, however is really not so good at trusting his allies, and oftentimes throughout the trial simply stops fighting and cowers in fear... while he's getting bombarded by fire and rocks and the kitchen sink. SUPER fun to heal through that. SUPER fun. Of course should the player fail, the challenge ends with him begging for it to stop, and the celestial taking pity on his plea.

After the player completes the challenges and cquires all the blessings, Wrathion once again send them to collect him some more magical doodads, and then finally, finally finishes upgrading the cloak to legendary status, and even throws a legendary gem in too. After that, Wrathion's final appearance after the seige of Orgrimmar, you walk in on him throwing a tantrum of tantrums, complete with firebreathing, stomping, kicking bags of flower, and being a general brat. He is furious that instead of dismantling the Horde and uniting all of Azeroth, Varian chose to leave the Horde be, as the new warchief had fought against Garrosh. The poor waiter of the tavern finally loses his temper and tries to give Wrathion a lecture about strength and people, and that Wrathion should be less of a little prick...

To which Wrathion replies "You're... you're just a waiter!" turns into his fat baby dragon form and flies off.

◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense?

No and, not particularly? As a black dragon he is more sensitive to anything tied to the earth (or locked in it, whatever the case may be) but otherwise he hasn't shown signs of it.

◎ Personality:

Wrathion is a complex character. He claims to be benevolent, and at first glance he really doesn't seem to be at all... the brat is as slippery as a used car salesman, but Wrathion always has more going on beneath the surface. He is genuinely trying to act in everyone's best interest, and he has a genuine passion in proving that he is not his father even possibly hopes of making up for his misdeeds, it's just his acceptable number of casualties in doing so is a bit higher than most.

As a Black dragon he displays the race's natural aptitude for brute force, and a certain underhandedness in how he handles his affairs, even though he lacks the corruption that drove the rest of his flight into madness. Xuen even states after their exchange, when Wrathion sought the celestial out for a blessing, is that "he is a 'black dragon through and through", showing that such a focused mindset on power and how to use it is a common trait of black dragons, and he is not the only one to make such comments about Wrathion. However, some of this may also have to do with how he was brought into the world, he claims of being aware of his surroundings as an egg, and thus viewed the cruelty of what happened to his mother in the name of a greater good, the sacrifice of the red dragon that was charged with protecting his egg... and then the inner workings of a guild of thieves. It's really no wonder he sees brute force and raw strength as the way to go, even if you have to cut through many lives to make it work.

Of course it is no surprise that even with his intelligence and harsh outlook on the world, Wrathion occasionally shows his age. In all his schemes and plans he has a very narrow perspective on how things will work out, whereas someone older than he would have the experience and forethought to know better. For example...

(the following example is a minor spoiler for the upcoming expansion)
After being finally confronted on why he released Garrosh and sent him to Draenor (which then lead him to amass an army of orcs to attack Azeroth), was because "Garrosh was supposed to unite Draenor to fight the Burning Legion, not turn against Azeroth." He then refers to this as "a minor misunderstanding".
(end spoiler)

Of course anyone who had had to deal with Garrosh would have clearly seen that he had a short temper and would lash out at the nearest thing that made him angry... and being imprisoned after being stripped of his title as warchief made him very, very angry. There are more obvious signs of his immaturity, when Garrosh falls, and Varian doesn't dismantle the Horde, Wrathion throws a tantrum. A literal, foot stomping, furniture kicking, firebreathing tantrum, because things didn't go his way. There is also the instance that when he made a very clear point that he was two in "dragon years" when Anduin laughed at him for lecturing him given his, as though "dragon years" would somehow make being a self important two year old more credible. Given the ridiculous lifespan of dragons, it actually just makes it that much worse.

Wrathion's immaturity is, unfortunately, coupled with a very inflated ego and sense of self importance. Even more unfortunate, Wrathion can back up much of what he says. He may be a child, but he is a child with terrifying power. That alsomeans his bravado can be his own downfall as well. When told that to gain the blessing of Xuen or Yulon he must face his 'champion' (the player) in combat, his initial reaction is shock, because he would "annihilate his own champion", and to be fair, he most certainly would. In the trial Wrathion is blindfolded, and even so Wrathion is so certain of his power he apologizes to the player beforehand for what was about to happen. In underestimating the player, and judging by his jeers throughout the trial, his likely playing around, the player is (supposed) to manage to defeat him. But it is a tough fight.

Despite his bravado and self confidence, he is not without his fears. While he often regards his father with disdain and anger, when confronted with an illusion of Deathwing during the trials of the celestials, Wrathion's disposition takes a drastic turn. His first reaction is to plead not to have to go through with the challenge. Throughout the fight he will abruptly freeze up and cower. Should the player fail, the challenge ends with Wrathion begging to make it stop. Preceding one such trial, Wrathion's admission of his fears also illuminate that he does truly have Azeroth's best interest at heart. It is his fear that Azeroth cannot persevere as a world divided that spurs him to do what he does. His actions are drastic and desperate, and requires much sacrifice, but that is how he has learned the world works.

◎ Powers/Abilities:

Transformation: Dragons can take the form of other being and creatures in order to blend in with other races/cultures and in order to not accidentally crush them (or in Wrathion's case so he's taken seriously, since it's hard to take orders from something the size of a Welsh Corgi). Wrathion generally takes the form of a human or elf.

Firebreathing: He's a dragon. They have a tendency to do that.

Crafting: Thus far, Wrathion had helped in the making of a pair of legendary daggers, and serveral legendary cloaks. He cannot craft legendary items entirely by himself though, he often requires powerful reagents (that he doesn't like getting himself), and in the case of the legendary cloaks- blessings from what are essentially demi gods. He could still make something fancy and worthwhile with his own power... just not quite AS fancy.

known combat abilities

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:

He's got some fancy lance thing he conned some poor saps into helping him make. No idea what it does aside from stab things and looks cool. Other than maybe some pocket change, he's got nothing. Even his clothes are probably just some magical by-product of transforming.

CEREALIA-Specific

◎ Element: Earth- his (Grand)father was known as the Earthwarder before his corruption, and thus the black dragonflight have close ties with the earth and what is contained within it.
◎ Sense:
Sight. During a questline for a legendary cloak, the player has to fight against a blindfolded Wrathion. During this time Wrathion takes 250% more damage from behind, and many of his abilities that would nearly one-shot players are easily avoidable. In short he's a huge failure when he can't see.

Samples

◎ First-Person Sample:

Good day everyone, it is I, Wrathion, the Black Prince, and I have decided to contact you all in regards to what I find to be an unforgiveable injustice.

[Wrathion comes on the feed, and clears this throat, his expression stern and irritable. He was clearly going to rant on somethings very important... to him..]

I am being made to attend this school?! Never have I had the displeasure of being forced to endure such trivial work! I am a black dragon! I have better things to do with my time than... than...

[He stalls for a moment, trying to articulate all of his dignified hate.]

finding letters tacked onto pictures of shapes. Are the teachers blind?! Why do they need me to find X? It's. Right. There. Right there!

[He smacks the paper with the back of his hand to gesture where he had "found" X.]

I shall offer three silver pieces to whoever is willing to complete this tedious work for me. I have much more important matters to attend to.

◎ Third-Person Sample:

The black prince sat in the classroom with a deadpan glare at the teacher. They had absolutely no right to keep him cooped up in this prison, absolutely none! None of the other children even had to stay as often as him, just over a few little mishaps. How could they even call this a place of learning if those who actually try to seek valuable knowledge are promptly punished? It wasn't like any of those mishaps were even his fault! That rampaging lizard beast from the jungle lose in the school was due to the incredibly lax security, just because he had decided to borrow it's egg to study it was inconsequential! And the fire alarm debacle, how was it his fault that these building were made to suppress his natural inclinations? That is just oppression right there! And the sentient green ooze that formed in one of the classrooms- well, alright he'd give them that one. But still, that was no reason to take away his freedoms of... not sitting in this class!

He tapped his finger on the desk, glanced at the clock, looked around the room, then momentarily tuned into what the so-called "teacher" was actually saying, then promptly tuned it right back out. Useless number gibberish. Really, these children should be learning swordmanship, or magic! Ways to defend themselves, or treat wounds. Not... finding imaginary numbers, that didn't even make logical sense! And then, he got an idea. A little smirk spread across his face and he cleared his throat before standing up to speak. He refused to raise his hand for permission to speak after all, that would be degrading.

"Excuse me... teacher." Ugh, calling the bucket of bolts that was almost physically painful, but the ends would justify the means, "I do believe there is a flaw in your..."

Oh... oh darn, what did they call it? These stupid contraption brain process, "yooour... inner technological philosophies."

Nailed it.

"I have been noticing several inconsistencies in your little theory of imaginary numbers. I for one, have not seen any of these numbers you speak of. I am afraid you may be imagining them."

The robot seemed a bit perplexed for a moment, then pointed to the 'i' in the equation on the board, to which Wrathion just shrugged, "I am afraid there is nothing there. Am I right?"

He glanced around the room at the other students. Some where snickering, and some rolled their eyes, but lucky for him, there were a number who were very eager to play part in the joke and began chiming up in agreement. The robot kept looking from the board to the students and back, and Wrathion took the opportunity to slide up next to the teacher and place a reassuring hand on its back, "Not to worry my good... educational gadget, I shall volunteer to continue the lesson and keep order while you go get this little flaw looked at."

And then he plucked the chalk from the robots hand, and ushered it out of the room, quickly closing the door behind it. The class was silent and all eyes focused on him as he sauntered back to the front of the room. He glanced over the students once more, seemingly pleased with the group.

"So, how many of you want to learn how to kill a Basilisk?"
